PURPOSE:To uniformalize the strucure and hardness in the rail head parts near the connected parts and other head parts by interposing cores for suppressing heating and coolig in the rail connected parts in making continuous heat treatment of the continuously connected rail train. CONSTITUTION:In heat treating a rail train connecting the end parts of rails 1 by means of connecting plates 9, a core 8 for suppressing heating is inserted between a pair of the connecting plates 9 and while overheating from the end faces of the rails 1 is being prevented by passing the rail train in a heating zone, it is heat-treated. Thence, the core 9 is removed and a core for suppressing cooling is positioned between the end faces of the end head parts of the rails 1, and fluid is fed into the elastic body 11 of the core 10, thence in the state that the elastic body 11 is held pressed to the end face of the rails 1, the rail train is passed through a water cooling zone, whereby overcooling, from the end faces of the head parts of the rails 1 is prevented. Thence, this core 10 is removed, again the core 8 is mounted and the rail train is passed through a heating furnace for annealing. |
