Support for filling of decayed tooth - consists of metal band clamped tightly around tooth

The filling material of a tool is supported, whilst being placed in position, by means of a metal band (1). This band (1) has a relatively wide middle portion (4) with narrow tongues (5) projecting from each end. This band is wrapped around the tooth which is to be filled, and pulled tightly around the tooth by a screwed spindle (3). When the band (1) is tightly clamped the tongues (5) are inserted in a lock (6). This lock is in the form of a cylinder with an internal screw thread. The lock has a transverse slot to receive the tongues (5) which are then clamped in the lock by a grub screw, with a socket head. USE - Dentistry.
