A cleaning agent for carpets, floorcoverings, textiles, velour leather and furs consists of moist, porous, spherical bodies of regenerated cellulose having a defined particle size in the range of 0.05-2.00mm to suit the specific application, the particles having a cellulose content of 10-50 wt. % a pore vol. of 50-90% and a powder density of 300-500 kg/m3 and the particles being charged with 20-90 wt. % water, 0.01-4.0 wt. % surfactant, 0.1-0.8 wt. % preservative and 0.00-0.6 wt. % fragrance components.
