The adjustable vehicle seat has a seat part (1), the seat frame (2) of which includes frame parts (3, 7) guided displaceably with respect to each other in the sliding direction of a floor guide (11). The first frame part (3) bears the seat surface whereas the second frame part (7) is held such that it can be displaced and, by means of a seat-locking device (17) fixed, on the floor guide (11). On the seat part (1) a backrest part (21) is held in a manner such that it can be folded down. In this connection, the backrest frame (25) is mounted pivotably via a first joint (27) on one of the two frame parts (7). The backrest frame (25) bears, at a distance from the joint axis of the first joint (27), a second joint (29) via which it is non-positively coupled, directly or indirectly (link 31), to the respective other frame part (7). The joint axis of the joint (29) connected to the first frame part (3) is arranged on the backrest frame (25) above the joint axis of the joint (27) connected to the second frame part (7). On folding the backrest part (21) forwards, the seat part (1) is at the same time displaced and, as a result, in two-doored motor vehicles the entry opening for the rear seats is increased. A gas-filled spring (37) permits the inclination of the backrest to be adjusted without adjusting the seat part (1). <IMAGE>
