PURPOSE:To perform efficiently a continuous rolling by making the thickness of the end of joining side of a thick strip of the strips to be joined together equal to that of the other thin strip and providing a taper to the former. CONSTITUTION:The end of joining side of a thick strip S1 of the strips to be joined together is squeezed into a tapered state by a press so that its thickness at the outer most end is approximately equal to the thickness of the other thin strip S2. The taper is provided to both upper and lower sides of the press so that it can press both surfaces of a thicker strip of either a preceding strip or a succeeding one. In this way, a continuous rolling is performed smoothly, and both of the rolling efficiency and the unit consumption of rolls are improved. |
