A charge coupled device is provided a first signal input path (1, 3) including an inverting amplifier (2), for supplying an information signal to be transferred through a delay line (4), and a second signal input path (8) in parallel with the first signal input path (1, 3) but having no inverting amplifier. The charge coupled device has a switching means (1, 3, 8) associated with the first and second signal input paths (1, 3, 8) so as selectively to establish connection via one of the first and the second signal input paths (1, 3, 8) to the delay line (4), so that a non-inverted or an inverted information signal can selectively be supplied to the delay line (4).
