PURPOSE:To prevent monolithic catalyzer from cracking at the time of accidental fire in the engine by setting the arrangement position of an inter-ram on the quasi-center part of the outer peripheral wall for monolithic catalyzer, or on the upstream side near the center part. CONSTITUTION:In the captioned structure which holds exhaust gas seals and the outer peripheral side of monolithic catalyzer 1 by an inter-ram 6, the arrangement position of the inter-ram 6 is set on the quasi-center part of the outer peripheral wall for monolithic catalyzer, or on the upstream side near the center part. Thus, since temperature difference at the spot of 30mm. from the end part on the upstream side of the monolithic catalyzer 1 at the time of accidental fire in the engine is sharply decreased, it eliminates such an instance as cracking the monolithic catalyzer 1. |
