PURPOSE:To maintain an always specified exit light quantity even if a guided light quantity fluctuates by registering a semiconductor laser and the incident end face of a thin-film waveguide with the accuracy of wavelength order. CONSTITUTION:A fluctuation arises in a laser output when the gap of the exit end face of a laser chip 1 and the incident end face 7-1 of a waveguide substrate 7 changes at the time of assembling the semiconductor laser part and the waveguide deflecting part. The distance between the exit face of the chip 1 and the incident end 7-1 of the substrate 7 is, thereupon, set at integer times of half the oscillation wavelength of the laser light. The degradation in the output of the laser by the influence of the reflection from the incident end face 7-1 of the substrate 7 is prevented in this way.
