OPTICAL FIBER COUPLER PROVIDED WITH CONNECTOR

PURPOSE:To drastically shorten time for connecting a polarized wave maintaining optical fiber coupler with another polarized wave maintaining optical fiber and to miniaturize the subject coupler by directly mounting a multi-fiber connector on both ends or one end of a case where the polarized wave maintaining optical fiber coupler is housed. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber coupler 11 produced by fusing and drawing two single mode optical fibers is fixed in the case 15 through a substrate 14 and the multi-fiber connectors 16a and 16b are mounted and fixed on both end of the optical fiber coupler 11. When another optical fiber is connected to the optical fiber coupler provided with the connector which have such constitution, for example, when the multi-fiber connectors 23a and 23b mounted to another optical fiber are connected to the multi-fiber connectors 22a and 22b mounted in the case 21, the connectors are mutually fixed by a spring 25 and the optical fibers are aligned by a guiding pin, so that the time for connecting is drastically shortened and a useless space which was indispensable to processing of the excess length of the optical fiber is saved.
