PURPOSE:To produce the subject composition having excellent flame-retardance and useful as a covering material, etc., for imparting high flame-retardance to electric wire, cable, etc., by compounding a polyolefin or ethylenic copolymer with a bismaleimide triazine resin and a metal hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding (A) 100 pts.wt. of a polyolefin or a copolymer of ethylene and other monomer with (B) 0.1-50 pts.wt. of powder of a bismaleimide triazine resin which is a thermoplastic resin having a structure consisting of complicatedly crosslinked bismaleimide and triazine and (C) 10-150 pts.wt. of a metal hydroxide such as Mg(OH)2, Al(OH)3 or Ca(OH)2. The depolymerization of the component A in combustion is suppressed by the component B and, at the same time, the water generating decomposition of the component C takes place. The composition exhibits excellent flame-retardance by the above synergistic effect. |
