PURPOSE:To provide the subject web having an unique touch similar to that of habutai by containing >= a specific amount of polyester fibers on the surface of whose each single fiber a specified amount of inactive inorganic fine particles such as titanium dioxide particles having an average specific diameter are deposited to air from the insides of voids. CONSTITUTION:A polyester polymer containing >=1wt.% of inert inorganic particles such as titanium dioxide, kaolinite or silica particles having the maximum particle size of 5mum and containing at least 50wt.% particles having article sizes of <=1mum and a polymer substantially not containing the inorganic particles are spun into a conjugate fiber, preferably a sheath-core type conjugate fiber comprising a core of the polymer with the fine particles and a sheath of the polymer substantially without the fine particles, followed by weaving a plurality of the conjugate fibers and subjecting the woven fabric to an alkali weight- reducing treatment to provide a web containing >=30wt.% of polyester fibers whose each single fiber contains the fine particles deposited to air from voids in an amount of at least 200 particles/mm on the surface thereof. A weight reduction processing in the method gives an unique touch similar to that of habutai to the web due to the generated voids and the remained fine particles. |
