<p>PURPOSE: To produce a uniform roving having high quality at a low cost using a simple apparatus by drafting a fiber sliver, passing through a vacuum nozzle to wind an extremely small portion of the fiber around the other fiber for forming a core and winding the product on a roving bobbin. CONSTITUTION: A fiber sliver S is taken out of a sliver can 12 with feeding roll sets 16, 18, 20, drafted (drawn) with a drafting assembly 14 and transferred to a rotary vacuum nozzle assembly 22. In the assembly 22, the sliver is passed through a rotating thin and long hollow shaft 26, air is introduced through plural orifices 38 radially distributed around the shaft 26 to wind an extremely small portion of the fiber W around the other fiber C for forming a core and the product is taken out with a take-out roll 52 and wound on a roving bobbin 56 with a take-up roll 54 to obtain the objective roving R.</p> |
