PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber useful as adsorbent having excellent durability, bulkiness, processability and adsorbingdesorbing property by performing conjugate spinning in side-byside using optically anisotropic pitch as one component and isotropic pitch as another component, infusibilizing and activating. CONSTITUTION:Optically anisotropic pitch or pitch readily converting to optically anisotropic pitch by a light heat-treatment is used as one component and isotropic pitch is used as another component to be subjected to conjugate spinning in side-by-side, then infusibilized under a condition of infusibilizing of the both, thus activated to afford the objective fiber in which a part without pore substantially generating adsorption of gas and a porous, activated part with pore generating adsorption of gas, etc., are arranged along whole length of the fiber. |
