PURPOSE:To enable sure promotion of lactic acid fermentation of silage raw material by using Lactobacillus KB-292 strain having silage-preparation capability in both aerobic and anaercbic atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The objective Lactobacillus KB-292 strain (FERM P-10475) belonging to genus Lactobacillus has the following properties. Form, bacillus brevis: Physiological properties; lactic acid fermentation, homo-type; catalase, none; optimum growth temperature, 30-35 deg.C; g growth temperature. 15-40 deg.C; sugar assimilation properties, positive to glucose, galactose, etc. The lactobacillus of the strain vigorously promotes the lactic acid fermentation in aerobic atmosphere as well as in anaerobic atmosphere. especially at the initial stage of the culture, compared with the conventional lactobacillus. Accordingly, inoculation of the strain to a silage raw material enables the proliferation of lactic bacteria even in the initial stage of storage having aerobic atmosphere of the raw material to provide a silage having high nutrient value and liked by domestic animals. It can be applied even to rice straw, etc., in Addition to pasture grass. |
