The invention concerns a drive shaft (1) with hubs (9) in each of which a liquid-cooled multiple-disc brake (19) and a planetary gear (18) are mounted. In order to improve the cooling of the disc brake (19), collection and guide elements (32) are associated with the bevel wheel (11) of a differential gear (12). The collection and guide elements (32) may comprise a trap (41) or strippers (49, 50). When the drive shaft is in operation, the coolant tends to shift into the hubs (9). The invention has applications particularly in heavy utility vehicles, e.g. wheeled loaders, in which the disc brakes (19) are used frequently and must be reliably cooled.
