In a device for cleaning fibrous textile material, for example cotton, synthetic fibres or the like, the fibrous material passes through a drawing-in device (3), for example a drawing-in roller (8) which co-operates with a trough (9), or through a pair of drawing-in rollers, and then through an opener device, for example an opener roller (5) with a cleaning device, after which it is transported to a processing machine. When a cutoff signal is emitted, a quick cutoff device controls both a first braking device for the drawing-in roller (8) and a second braking device (13, 14) for the opener roller (5).
