<p>PURPOSE:To uniformly apply a coating solution to a discontinuous substrate by setting the difference between the level of the coating solution and the height of the apex of a coating bar to a specific value range when the rotation of the coating bar is stopped and forming a liquid sump immediately before the contact part of the coating bar with the substrate. CONSTITUTION:A rotary driving means is connected to one end of a bar 2 and a bar support member 6 is surrounded by weir members 5, 5' and the coating solution 3 supplied from a liquid supply port 4 forms a liquid storage part 8 between the bar support member 6 and the weir member 5. A substrate 1 is horizontally fed in the rotary direction of the bar 2 so that the under surface of the substrate 1 is brought into contact with the apex of the bar 2 and the rotating bar 2 pumps up the coating solution 3 from the liquid storage part 8 to transfer the same to the under surface of the substrate 1 through the liquid sump 9 formed at the contact point with the under surface of the substrate and, at the same time, the coating solution 3 is metrically scraped off to form a film 1 having a predetermined thickness. Herein, the difference between the level of the supplied coating solution when the rotation of the coating bar 2 is stopped and the height of the apex of the bar 2 is set to a range of 0.5-4.5mm.</p> |
