A fixed frame (5) has guideways (3,4) arranged to form a wedge slightly inclined to the vertical. Rollers (1,2) running on the guideways are connected by tension springs (6,7). In the rest position a braking system (9) secures the rollers. When a load is placed on the platform (13) and the brake released the springs (6,7) are extended and energy is stored.
