A process and a device are useful for treating garments which have been dry cleaned with at least one organic solvent, in particular perchlorethylene (''per'') and/or other chlorinated hydrocarbons or the like. To remove the solvent residues after dry cleaning, the garments are aerated and smoothed simultaneously with steam and/or possibly air. During treatment, the garments (2) are exposed, at least temporarily, to a fairly high partial vacuum. At the same time, they are heated by steam and possibly air from above (6) and/or laterally (8) in a manner known per se to a temperature above ambient temperature. The solvent-laden outgoing current of vapour and possibly air (9) is extracted below the garments (2) and the solvent is removed. |
