<p>Coated plastic products (10) are prepared by chemically bonding a protective coating material (12) to at least a portion of the surface of a plastic substrate (11), by disposing a web (32) of a protective coating material (12) over the cavity (23) of a mold (17, 18) and thereafter injecting polymeric precursor materials into the mold (17, 18) behind the web (32) thereby conforming the web to the surface of the mold cavity (23). As the polymeric precursor materials react in situ to form the plastic substrate (11), they also chemically bond to the protective coating material (12).</p> |
