PURPOSE:To obtain an excellently finished glass surface by providing on a diamond tip, a cutter edge and a back clearance face following said edge, on the basis of the rake face of a single plane. CONSTITUTION:Precision cutting of a face to be machined is performed by means of, for example, side part cutting edges 9 and 5 on the feed direction side of a diamond cutting tool. Subsequently, superprecision finishing by a central cutting edge 1 is further performed on the cut surface already machined by said cutting edges 9 and 5. Surface swell due to a previous process is improved through this finishing. Furthermore, feed marks called ''sawn trace'' are completely cleared away so that a glass surface with extremely excellent in no existence of roughness and swell of the finished surface can be obtained. |
