PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst easy to prepare and having high ammonia synthesizing activity by adding an alkali metal compound to a Raney ruthenium alloy before performing hydrogenolysis. CONSTITUTION:At first, ruthenium metal and aluminum metal are mixed and treated in an argon gas stream according to an arc melting method to prepare a Raney ruthenium alloy. Subsequently, an alkali metal compound such as a cesium compound or a rubidium compound is added to said Raney ruthenium alloy by an impregnation method and the impregnated alloy is evacuated at room temp. and reduced at about 100-350 deg.C, pref., at about 250-350 deg.C by hydrogen to be subjected to hydrogenolysis. By this method, a catalyst having high ammonia synthesizing activity is easily prepared. |
