<p>A sticker composed of a carburization, nitridation or oxidation preventing layer prepared by binding heat-fusible or heat-meltable particles which can prevent carburization, nitridation or oxidation with one another by using a heat-decomposable resin as a binder and a self-adhesive layer, and its use for that purpose. When this sticker is fastened to that part of a metallic member which must be prevented from being carburized, nitrided or oxidized in carburizing, nitriding or heat-treating the member, the covered part remains unmodified to retain toughness, while the surface of an uncovered part is modified, e.g. hardened. Thus it becomes possible to obtain machine parts having both toughness and wear resistance. Since the sticker is of self-adhesive type, it can fulfill its purpose merely by sticking it to a desired part.</p> |
