摘要 PURPOSE:To maximize light transmission efficiency with various light sources by providing a lens array in which the pitch and radius of curvature of the individual microlenses constituting the lens array are changed according to the angle components of the incident light on the lens array so as to correspond to display picture elements. CONSTITUTION:The microlenses 205 are so disposed that the central parts of the microlenses 205 and the central parts of apertures 206 align in parts 201 where light sources are made incident perpendicular to the lens array. The central parts of the microlenses 205 and the central parts of the apertures 206 are deviated by partly forming the wide-pitch parts of the microlenses 205 with omitted parts 204 shown by, for example, broken lines in the parts 202 where rays are made incident diagonally on the lens array. The max. light transmission efficiency is obtd. If the pitch and curvature of the microlenses 205 in the respective intra-surface positions are changed to meet the incident angles of the rays having the max. intensity. The light quantity on the display surface is efficiently increased in this way.
