Current sensor for welding conductor includes taroidal core surrounding conductor, slider resistor connected across back end of core and resistor having voltage dividing sliding arm. Connected to sliding arm is rectifier circuit including capacitor, output of which passes to detector circuit which determines whether current in conductor exceeds prescribed value. Detector circuit comprises series arrangement of resistor, zener diode and diode, zener diode being conductive when rectifier circuit output voltage exceeds zener voltage. Point between resistor and zener diode is connected to transistor which is conductive correspondingly to zener diode, and lamp is connected between emittercollecter circuit of transistor and diode.
