PURPOSE:To prevent engine brake force from its decrease following slip action of a fluid transmitting gear by placing a lockup mechanism in a connected condition at the time of predetermined deceleration operation. CONSTITUTION:A load change condition detecting means 28 detects a load, when its change rate is in not less than a preset value, a lockup control pattern in a control means 27 is changed by a lockup control pattern change means 29, and a lockup device 5, even when it is in a region disconnected in steady operation, is connected and controlled by perfect or predetermined connecting force. Consequently, good deceleration operation is obtained by applying large engine brake force as compared with the case when a control is performed only via a fluid transmitting gear 2. |
