In a method for mounting a gas generator 12 in an opening 11 in an inflatable bag 10 for motor vehicle safety systems, the generator is secured in place by means of the bag wall around the opening being clamped between a mounting plate 13, fitted on the generator, and a locking washer 24 which is made to engage with projections 20, 21 on the gas generator. Grip arms 16, 17 on which the locking washer is arranged and which grip the gas generator are used for mounting. The mounting plate of the gas generator is introduced through the opening, and the locking washer is pushed onto the grip arms against the mounting plate, so that the bag wall is securely clamped. The locking washer is then held in this position by engagement with the projections on the gas generator. The locking washer is brought into engagement with the projections by turning it about the gas generator by means of the grip arms. A cover plate 26 can be arranged between the locking washer and the bag. <IMAGE> |
