<p>PURPOSE:A material for sliding parts that is made by mixing carbon fibers, a brass powder and a tetrafluoroethylene resin powder at a specific ratio and calcining them, thus being suitable for use in bearings, mechanical seals or oil seals, because of its high strength and high PV value. CONSTITUTION:For example, (A) 3-10% of carbon fibers of 7-8mu diameter and 0.5-1mm. length, (B) 5-30% of a brass powder of l00-350 mesh particle sizes, consisting of 70% copper and 30% zinc and (C) the complementary amount of a tetrafluoroethylene resin powder are mixed by means of a mixer. The mixture is placed in a mold and molded, e.g., at 300-500kg/cm<2> and calcined so that the temperature starts from room one and reaches 380 deg.C after 5hr, and the temperature is kept for about 3hr, then the product is cooled down to room temperature in the course of about 8hr. Then, the product is fabricated into a desired form to give the objective material.</p> |
