PURPOSE:To reduce the cleaning number of times of a head thereby to ease maintenance thereof such as supplement of the cleaning water or discard of the waste water etc., by providing an ink drop guiding plate below the nozzle surface of said ink-jet head, and controlling the cleaning frequency of said head. CONSTITUTION:A head 201 is not cleaned in many cases depending on the rotating position of a rotary switch, resulting in stagnancy of the unnecessary ink on the surface of the head. Accordingly, a recorded item may eventually be dirty. For avoiding this, an ink drop guiding plate 203 is provided below the nozzle surface of each head 201 so as to guide ink drops adhered to the nozzle surface to a head guide plate 202. The ink drops are discarded into a waste pan. Therefore, even if the cleaning number of times of the head is reduced, it does not lead to the stagnancy of the ink drops at the surface of the heal 201. The head is not required to be cleaned every time of recording. |
