SULFUR OXIDES REDUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To widen the operation range of a reducing agent and to lower the height of SOx reducing device by forming a reducing column which reduces the SOx to a slender cylindrical shape and providing a means for separating the gas from the reducing column. CONSTITUTION:The gaseous sulfurous acid and reducing agent introduced into the reducing column 2 rises in the column 2 while the reducing agent is fluidized by the gaseous sulfurous acid as the column 2 is formed in a slender cylindrical shape and the velocity of flow of the gas in the column is maintained. The high-velocity fluidized bed of the reducing agent is thereby formed. The reducing agent and the gaseous sulfurous acid come into contact with each other at a high temp. to effect reaction (combustion) and the gaseous sulfurous acid is reduced and is formed to gaseous sulfur which is introduced from the upper part of the column 2 via a piping 8 into a cyclone 10. The unburned component of the reducing agent of the large grain sizes in the introduced gaseous sulfur is captured and is discharged from the cyclone 10 so as to enter a gaseous sulfur pipe 13. The unburned component and dust past the cyclone 10 are removed via a filter 14 and enter a sulfur condenser 15 where the sulfur is recovered.
