The switch has an insulated housing (3) containing two parallel separation shells (1, 2). Between the shells, at one end, a counter-contact (5) is fitted, a spacer (6) and middle contact (4) being between the shells. The switch is operated by axial movement (E) of the shells. In normal loading conditions, sufficient forces (A, B, C, D) are applied to maintain the necessary contact pressure. In extreme overload conditions, e.g. short-circuits greater than 20,000 Amps, Lorentz forces act on the shells causing them to bow inwards until they come into contact with the spacer (6). @(16pp Dwg.No.1/7)@.
|
