PURPOSE:To record a two-color image with clear tones, by setting the melt viscosity of the first thermally transferable ink at 140 deg.C to be at least 10 times that of the second thermally transferable ink. CONSTITUTION:The first ink layer 3a on a base 2 consists of a thermally transferable ink comprising a coloring agent dispersed in a heat-fusible binder and showing a melt viscosity of not less than 10<4>cP at 140 deg.C. On the other hand, the second thermally transferable ink layer 3b provided on the first ink layer 3a consists of an ink having a melt viscosity of 1-10<3>cP, preferably, 5-10<2>cP. If this melt viscosity is less than 1cP, a transfer-recorded image is blurred, resulting in a low clearness, whereas if the melt viscosity exceeds 10<3>, separation between the function of the first ink layer and the function of the second ink layer becomes unsatisfactory. Since the function of the first ink layer and that of the second ink layer are clearly separated from each other, two-color transfer-recorded images with clear tones can be obtained by controlling the energy applied in transfer recording. |
