To treat a winding thread or yarn with paraffin, the solid paraffin body is on a shaft (5) in two sections (5a, 5b) keyed to each other. The first shaft section (5a) ends within the housing (1) where it is driven. The second shaft section (5b) carrying the paraffin body (4) is axially longer than the paraffin and its projecting end can be keyed to the first shaft section (5a).
