PURPOSE:To increase the height of a trunk room to enhance the usefulness thereof, by forming an opening in the rear section of the roof, by providing swingable cover plates in the front and rear of the opening, and by providing a flexible roof member adapted to form an enlarging chamber together with the cover plates serving as the front and rear walls thereof. CONSTITUTION:Front and rear cover plates 8, 9 are attached to an opening 7 formed in the rear section of a roof 6 so that they are vertically swingable about axes laid at the front and rear ends of the opening 7, and further there is provided a drive mechanism 10 for vertically swinging the front and rear cover plates 8, 9. A flexible roof member 15 adapted to form an enlarging chamber 22 above the trunk room 5 together with the front and rear cover plates 8, 9 serving as a pair of front and rear walls when the cover plates 8, 9 are raised, is arranged so that one end of the flexible roof member 15 is supported to a winding and storing device 16. Meanwhile a pair of left and right lateral wall members 17b, 23b defining the enlarging chamber 22 are provided so that they may be selectively moved up and down by means of the drive mechanisms 18b, 21b. Thus it is possible to change the height of the trunk room 5 which may be therefore further increased, thereby it is possible to enhance the usefulness of the trunk room.
