PURPOSE:To increase the merge processing speed by referring to a string information table to detect the idle state of a memory and determining the string which the data of should be transmitted as merge data to the memory in accordance with the detected idle state of the memory and transmitting determined data to the memory. CONSTITUTION:At the time of merging strings d1 to dn of plural data sorted by a certain rule, a sort processing circuit S refers to a string information table T indicating the latest states of strings d1 to dn to a memory M1, where strings are stored for the purpose of merging, to detect the idle state of the memory M1. The string which the data of should be transmitted as merge data to the memory M1 is determined in accordance with the detected idle state of the memory M1, and determined data is transmitted to the memory M1. Thus, the merge processing speed is increased. |
