PURPOSE:To produce the vinylon mat with improved impact resisting property by distributing reinforcing member into the every portion of a product uniformly, improving the fluidity of the sheet molding compound composed of the vinyl fiber immobilized by a specified binder. CONSTITUTION:The vinylon mat for sheet molding compound (SMC) with 0.01- 0.03g/m<3> tension degree and 15-500g/m<2> weight per square meter is composed of 80-97wt% polyvinyl alcohol fiber (A) with 0.1-1,000 denier and 2-50mm. fiber length, immobilized 20-3wt% styrene soluble resin (B) (e.g. styrene butadiene copolymer latex, etc.) as a binder. At the manufacture of SMC, by selecting (B) resin as the binder of the vinylon mat, the vinylon fiber as a reinforcing member keeps the passage property through a process as a two dimensional sheet at charging time, and the vinylon fiber is distributed in the resin solution, dessolving the binder before the SMC sheet passes compressive rolls for forming, thereby enabling the uniformly and easily supplying of the vinylon fiber into SMC. |
