SIMULTANIOUS MULTI-PLY COATING AND MULTI-PLY PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIALS

PURPOSE: To form a multilayer photographic material having uniform concn. patterns by simultaneously coating a moving support with multiple layers of a highly deionized gelatin-contg. hydrophilic colloidal aq. coating compsn. of a high mol.wt. dispersed with a specific org. solvent. CONSTITUTION: The hydrophilic colloidal aq. coating compsn. contg. the highly deionized gelatin of the high mol.wt. dispersed with the fine liquid droplets of a high-temp. boiling and water immiscible org. solvent is applied as the adjacent first layer of the support on the support and the multiple layers of the aq. coating compsn. are simultaneously applied and formed by using a multilayer bead coating applicator. More specifically, the four layers are matched with a necessary lamination relation until these layers attain the coating bead 22. This distinct lamination relation is maintained during the beading time and, therefore, when the hydrophobic support 23 is moved to cross the bead and to come into contact with the bead by the means of a roll 24, the coatings of the four layers are picked up at prescribed ratios on the surface.
