THE MACHINE TOOL HEAD-STOCK

The solution applies to the arranging of the headstock of a machine tool, mainly of boring lathes and milling machines. The headstock consists of a box-shaped body (2) with a tetrahedral telescopic quill (1). The quill (1) is alongside the whole headstock length mounted in the following way : Its rear part protrudes from the headstock body (2) even in a maximum extension (Z). In the front and rear part of the head stock body (2) there are wedges (3) used for delimiting clearance between the quill (1) and guide in the headstock body (2). The proposed solution should significantly lower the weight of the headstock.<IMAGE>
