The device according to the invention comprises a mounting plate 3 secured to one of the lateral walls of the furniture. On this mounting plate pivot two arms 6, 7 which are articulated to the inner face of the door 2 and set out so that that one of their ends which is fixed to the door is directed downwards, and upwards, respectively, when the door is lowered.
