FUNCTIONAL WATER ABSORBING SHEET

PURPOSE:To form a sheet having high water absorbing power and a function such as freshness retentivity by holding a mixture of a highly water absorbing material with a specified functional material between packing materials in one body and using a water impermeable laminate as one of the packing materials. CONSTITUTION:A mixture 3 contg. a highly water absorbing material and a specified functional material is held between packing materials 1, 2 in one body and a water impermeable laminate is used as at least one of the packing materials to form a functional water absorbing sheet. The highly water absorbing material may be a starch-acrylate graft polymer or a CMC cross-linked body. The functional material may be a material having a specified function such as antibacterial function, deodorizing function or gaseous ethylene adsorbing function. The water absorbing sheet may be used as a freshness retaining material between perishables packed into a box or bag.
