PURPOSE: To obtain a dye having high transfer densities by specifying the dye in a dye-donor material for use according to a thermal dye sublimation transfer comprising a support having thereon a dye layer containing a dye. CONSTITUTION: The dye-donor material comprises a dye layer containing a dye having a support having thereon a dye layer. The dye corresponds to a general formula (I), thereby forming a high maximum density to obtain a thermal dye sublimation transfer of a good transfer efficiency. The thermal dye sublimation transfer is executed by bringing the material provided with the dye layer containing the sublimable dye having a thermal transferability into contact with an acceptive sheet, selectively heating it by a thermal print head provided with many juxtaposed heating resistor according to a pattern information signal, transferring the dye from a selectively heated region of the material to the sheet, and forming a pattern thereon. Its shape and density are according to a strength of the heat given to the pattern and the material. |
