In the case of a piece of unit-assembly and convertible furniture, in particular a shelf system, consisting of round bars (1) and preferably sheet-like elements (30, 32) which can be connected to the round bars (1), there are provided shaped pieces which embrace the round bars (1) and can be frictionally connected to the latter, and on which the components (30, 32) can be laid or to which they can be positively connected. The frictional connection between round bar (1) and shaped piece, which can be made and broken again at any desired point along the round bar (1), is produced by reducing the inside diameter of a clamping element or clip or by the rotation of two intermeshing screw parts, the latter each having a bore for the passage of the round bar (1), which bores are offset eccentrically with respect to the thread axes and, per thread, lie above one another in only one position. <IMAGE>
