The invention relates to an apparatus for recovering copper during the scrapping of electric motors, the electric-motor insert of which is exposed by the removal of the housing. According to the invention, the apparatus possesses a holding device with a receiving part, fastened to a machine frame, for an electric-motor insert and with a hydraulically actuable holding-down device, a cutting device for severing copper windings of the electric-motor insert, and a hydraulically actuable pulling device for pulling out severed copper windings. The cutting device and the pulling device are arranged on opposite sides of the holding device which are assigned to the end faces of the electric-motor insert, in such a way that the copper windings can be severed on one end face of the electric-motor insert and can subsequently be pulled out of the electric-motor insert on the opposite side.
