PURPOSE:To obtain an endless ink ribbon which is free from a loose joint and print blurring by overlapping both ends of ribbon cloth, thermally fusing the overlapped area, and coating the joined part on either one or both faces of the ribbon cloth with a curing layer of a reactive synthetic resin adhesive. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of the ribbon cloth 3 of an endless ink ribbon 1 are overlapped, and the overlapped faces 5 are thermally fused. The upper and lower joined parts 7, 7 of the joined area are coated with curing layers 9, 9 of a reactive synthetic resin adhesive. The curing layer 9 has the reactive synthetic resin adhesive applied in the joined part 7. Thus adhesive is dried and the part protruding out of the width of the ribbon base 3 is cut and trimmed. Then the joined part is thermally pressed from above and bottom. In addition, a solid ink layer of the same color as that which permeates into the ribbon cloth 3 is provided on the surface of the curing layer 9. Even in the joined part 7, characters are printed using the solid ink layer 15 without print blurring and missing characters. In the meantime, the ends of the ribbon cloth do not become loose, as a dot wire does not reach the ribbon cloth 3 due to the curing layer 9. |
