PURPOSE:To prevent an en-st by releasing a lock-up clutch when the brake operation is detected during the engagement of the lock-up clutch due to the output shaft rotating speed of a torque converter exceeding the input shaft rotating speed. CONSTITUTION:A CPU switches on a solenoid valve 36 for lock-up relay when the output shaft rotating speed detected at a turbine rotation sensor 24 exceeds the input shaft rotating speed of a torque converter detected at an engine rotation sensor 23, engages a lock-up duty control solenoid valve 37 by 100% and switches on a lock-up clutch forcibly so as to put on an engine brake. When a brake switch 29 is switched on by the brake operation during the engagement of the lock-up clutch, the lock-up clutch is released from its engagement. Accordingly, an en-st can be avoided even if the brake is stepped on during the control of the engine brake. |
