The fluid-cooled multiple-disc brake (29) incorporates an inner disc-holder (10) in the form of a feeder-wheel (48) mounted on a drive-shaft (7) to support inner brake discs (27). Outer brake discs (28) are supported on an outer disc holder (15). A coolant feeder duct (53) leads to the inner disc holder (10). The coolant flows through radial ducts (34) in the inner disc holder (10) towards the inner and outer brake discs (27,28), and flows away via a discharge pipe (51,52) on the outer disc holder (15). ADVANTAGE - The feeder wheel forming the inner disc holder (10) rotates with the drive-shaft's rotational speed, and has coolant flowing to it near the drive shaft (7).
