Alignment aid for IC engine ignition distributor - has spring-loaded plunger to locate into recess in rotor head

The underside of the rotor head plate, which rotates with the distributor, has an alignment recess into which the shaped head (5) of the alignment aid is pressed. This holds the rotor head w.r.t. the distributor housing to allow it to be fitted to the engine, with the engine in a preset position. The spring-loaded alignment plunger is pulled back out of contact with the rotor head by the spring. The plunger is fitted intoa shaped plug housing (1) which is clipped into the bottom of the distributor housing. Retaining lips (2) hold the head in the locking position. The shape of the head enables the rotor plate to disengage when rotated. ADVANTAGE - Reusable alignment aid, simple timing set up for distributor.
