A roller-drive unit, in which the drive rollers (10, 10') are mounted by means of a pivot mounting (16), fastened to a frame (36), for the rotationally movable mounting of the drive rollers (10, 10'), is known. The drive rollers (10, 10') can be pivoted from a lower position of rest into one of two upper working positions, depending on the direction of rotation. A drive motor (34, 35) for the controllable drive of the drive rollers (10, 10') is provided. A torque is branched off from the motor drive torque via braking devices (22a, 22b; 23), in order to load the pivot mounting (16) in the direction of one of the working positions. When a travelling article to be conveyed comes up against the respective raised drive roller, a torque loading the arrangement in a pulse-like manner takes effect. It is proposed to provide a torsion spring (33) in the gear train between the drive motor (34, 35) and the braking device (22a, 22b; 23). <IMAGE>
