Device for movement of patients with a walking impediment

Patients with a walking impediment, especially those having a very severe walking impediment, have hitherto moved about in a wheelchair which, however, is very difficult to handle in narrow spaces. Furthermore, wheelchairs have a very elaborate design, so that their production is expensive. The invention is intended to create a device which improves mobility in narrow spaces and which is cheaper to produce. According to the invention, the device comprises a chassis (1) having four wheels (4, 5), two of which are in each case connected to one another via axles (2, 3). One axle (2) is fixed off-centre on the wheels (4), fixation on one wheel (2) being offset by 180@ relative to the other wheel (2). Moreover, the chassis (1) has a linkage (6) fastened on cuffs (7) or the like fixed to the legs or the trunk of the patient with a walking impediment. By shifting the weight of the patient standing on the chassis (1), movement is possible, the weight always being shifted towards the wheel at which the axle (2) assumes the highest position. The device permits movement of patients with a walking impediment even in narrow spaces. Due to the simple design the production costs are low. <IMAGE>
