In a spinning machine with a multiplicity of spinning assemblies which each spin two pre-consolidated thread components and combine them to form a double thread, there is provided a movable servicing appliance which can be advanced to the individual spinning assemblies and which, for attaching the double thread to a bobbin tube inserted into the winding device and driven to execute rotations, contains a device which can be advanced to the bobbin tube and which is equipped with means for deflecting a portion of the double thread into a direction approximately parallel to the axis of the bobbin tube and for transferring the deflected portion of the double thread into the range of movement of a driver rotating together with the bobbin tube.
